CND FOR OPENING CEREMONY
CND, the global leader in professional nail care, showcased three effortlessly cool nail designs tonight at Opening Ceremony’s Fall/Winter 2015 Show at Cheim & Read in New York City. Presented in a unique art gallery setting, the fashion collaboration was a celebration of the early works of legendary film director Spike Jonze, a long-time friend of Opening Ceremony.
Paying tribute to his prolific photography, the collection highlighted 35-millimeter film through an interplay of collage formats and contact sheets on unconventional mediums, and featured a select capsule collection honoring storied technology brand Kodak. CND completed the story with two understated linear nail designs featuring Kodak’s signature color palette and a third look paying homage to one of Jonze’s poignant photographs.
“We were completely captivated by Opening Ceremony’s creative vision for this collection,” said CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Their colors and concepts tied in perfectly with CND’s Fall 2015 trend story, which celebrates an unexpected clash between gritty street elements and refined details for an intriguing combination of glamour and grunge.”

The nails presented at the Opening Ceremony show were a collaborative effort between the elite global artists of the CND Design Lab Team, Opening Ceremony and their design consultant, celebrity nail artist Naomi Yasuda. The handmade works of art were created with vertical and horizontal striping techniques using VINYLUX® Weekly Polish in an array of heavily pigmented Kodak-inspired colors including red, yellow, blue and purple. A decoupage technique was implemented to lay Jonze’s impactful black and white photography on the nail. Intricate detailing provided the framework for the design, the third bespoke look for the collection.

CND FOR LIBERTINE
CND, the global leader in professional nail care, unveiled a dynamic collection of expensive nail designs tonight at Libertine’s Fall/Winter 2015 Show at Lincoln Center in New York City. With vague references to mythology and Indian culture, the clothing and nails were an assortment of shimmering, glittering molten artwork. The outcome was a high-impact fashion experience featuring an artistic clash of texture and color.

“Working with Libertine’s Johnson Hartig again this season has been an inspiring creative experience,” said CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “We were thrilled to find out that his collection is the perfect representation of CND’s Fall 2015 trend story, which combines his street mentality with elegant couture for a dark and edgy contrast.”

The eye-catching, golden nails created by the elite artists of the CND Design Lab Team were constructed with CND® Liquid & Powder, painted with VINYLUX® Weekly Polish and embellished with CND® Additives and a variety of unconventional materials and architectural accessories. Abstract shark teeth nails, inspired by baguettes on the sleeves of the Libertine garments, featured blinding gold studs in varying textures with one giant shark tooth extending halfway up the finger. Other models donned chandelier chains reminiscent of dripping melted gold, which were webbed together between the fingers for an over-the-top molten metal effect. The lavish 3D looks were tricked out with 2,500 hand-placed paillettes, 600 feet of gold chain and 110 individually sculpted shark teeth.

“CND is the perfect collaborative partner, and I am so proud of the magic we produce when we meld our creative visions together. Our artist souls were bonded the moment we met.” said Libertine designer Johnson Hartig. “The work CND brings to the table is unbelievable – together, we’re bringing real art to the runway in one cohesive fashion story.”

“After collaborating with Libertine for the first time last season, Johnson quickly became an extended member of the CND family,” said Arnold. “He continues to push the creative envelope, forcing his audience to think outside the box when it comes to fashion and art, and that is just what CND continues to do in the world of nails. I can’t wait to see where this partnership takes us next – we LOVE Libertine!”
CND FOR THE BLONDS
CND, the global leader in professional nail care, unveiled 20 distinct nail designs tonight at The Blonds Fall/Winter 2015 Show at MILK Studios in New York City. Inspired by dystopian elements of several iconic films, the clothing and nails featured a clash of distressed and refined elements, making for a fashion story best described as apocalyptic couture. This long-time artistic partnership continues to push the boundaries of creativity, producing some of the most powerful performance art at Fashion Week.

“Our ongoing collaboration with The Blonds has become an integral part of CND’s fashion culture – it’s so exciting to get together each season and brainstorm concepts for our nail artistry,” said CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “The Blonds’ aesthetic for this collection correlated perfectly with our Fall 2015 trend story, which is all about the contrast between edgy, almost explosive, design elements and high-end finishes for an overall dark elegance.”
Complementing each of the designers’ runway looks with a unique over-the-top nail style on every model, the elite artists of the CND Design Lab Team handcrafted the nails and their dramatic embellishments with CND® Liquid & Powder and BRISA® Gel. Then, layers of high-shine color were applied using CND® SHELLAC® brand 14+ day nail color and VINYLUX® Weekly Polish, using innovative techniques to create matte suede texture. Accented with gold chrome accessories, textural elements and layering created serious dimension, while couture camouflage in industrial tones were embellished with hand-crafted molten paillettes. The bold 3D designs, which took a total of over 900 combined hours to create, were pierced, draped, laced, torn and burnt, perfectly accessorizing The Blonds’ theatrical collection.

“It has always been a dream of ours to transform MILK Studios into ‘Milk Bar,’ so we are thrilled to see this story finally come to life this season,” said The Blonds designer David Blond. “Once again, Jan and the entire CND team totally blew us away with incredible nail designs to complete the collection. It was amazing to see it all come together on the runway,” added Phillipe Blond.
“Since the inception of our creative partnership in 2008, The Blonds have given us the ultimate platform to express our larger-than-life artistry,” said Arnold. “With their collaborative spirit and ingenious artistic vision, they continue to stretch our imaginations and inspire us to bring true magic to the runway season after season!”
